Comments Mapping population: 80 F4 families derived from a cross between Os420 and IABO78. The experiment was conducted in 1994 and 1995 at Cadriano, Italy.12 plants were grown in each pot. An adequate level of water stress was achieved by controlling irrigation at approximately 50% of actual evapotranspiration. 8 central plants from each pot. Samples (the third distal portion of the leaf lamina) of the fifth and the third leaf from the top at growth stage 3 (rapid stem elongation stage, see Hanway, 1963) and stage 4 (2-3 days before anthesis) were collected in 1994 and 1995 trials. Composite interval mapping was used to identify QTLs. A putative QTL was declared signifcnat when the LOD score was > 2.0. The sample used for idnetify the present QTL was from the 1994 trial.
