ID 826
Name rp3 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) resistance to Puccinia sorghi3
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200466
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Dominant Rp3 resistant. Dominant Rp3, absence of chlorotic to necrotic flecks
with or without minute uredosori develop on seedling leaves 10-16 days after
infection with appropriate (avirulent) biotypes of the rust pathogen; fully
developed uredosori with abundant spores form on leaves of plants having the
recessive allele. Six alleles designated 1-f are based on differential reactions
to rust biotypes (Wilkinson and Hooker 1968 Phytopathol 58:605; Hooker 1985 The
Cereal Rusts p. 207). (A. Hooker). Genetic 2005 3 coordinates determined from
these recombination and map data: "lg3 -3- (rp3 -0- rg1); umc10a -2- (rp3,
php20802) -2- umc102; see MaizeGDB ID:112764; 112769.". This gene was originally
curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize
bins map if feasible.
