Description Like lg1, less extreme. Like lg1, but less extreme and less definitive
expression. Ligule often present on certain leaves. Lg2 function is apparently
non-cell autonomous in contrast to Lg1 (Harper and Freeling 1993 MNL67:17).
Classification probably best in later stages. Double mutant lg1 lg2 combo is
more extreme and expression is dosage-dependent, suggesting that Lg1 and Lg2
have different fucntions. Genetic 2005 3 coordinates determined from these
recombination and map data: TB-3Lj lg2; lg2 TB-3Lc; csu38a(taf) -0.5- lg2 -1-
umc60; see MaizeGDB ID:304886;108114; 934702. This gene was originally curated
in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map
if feasible.
