ID 507
Name dek3 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (2)
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200132
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Germless; cultured embryos white with green stripe. Large, germless kernel with
deep indentation of germinal area, more floury starch than normal in the
endosperm and a tiny nonfunctional embryo. Cultured embryos produce weak white
1-leaf seedlings with green stripes. Variant types with extreme collapsed floury
endosperm and a tannish color appear on most segregating ears in ratios
suggesting additional modifying factors. Indentation of germinal face of kernel
is enhanced by the apparent degeneration of internal floury starch to form an
internal cavity in the endosperm near the small embryo. Genetic 2005 2
coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: dek3 T2-3(6270);
see MaizeGDB ID:105608. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB Database
and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
