Name ms10 (GENE SYMBOL)
Synonyms (1) male sterile10
GRAMENE GENEGR:0200343
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Like ms5; affected at microspore vacuolation. Mutant ms10 plants undergo normal
meiosis I and II. Quartet release is normal, as is the early vacuolate
microspore stage. Microspore collapse occurs about the mid-vacuolate stage.
Further studies have shown that degeneration involves the microspores, tapetum,
and endothecium (Cheng et al. 1979 Can J. Bot 57:578). (M. Albertsen). Genetic

originally curated in MaizeGDB Database and the map position was displayed on
the maize bins map if feasible.
