Description Dominant Trn1 plants have chlorotic and adherent leaf tissues on later leaves,
which become green and healthy after sunlight exposure but are torn. Leaf tips
adherent and necrotic so that expansion due to growth of normal leaf tissue
causes a tearing of the upper part of the leaf blade. This condition results in
a much smaller plant with torn leaves at flowering. Linkage with all wx1 9-
translocations, especially in the long arm; 16 +/- 2.7 units from wx1. Genetic
2005 9 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: wx1 -16-
trn1; see MaizeGDB ID:164474. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
