Description Defective opaque endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos pale green with green
stripes. Small, opaque, sometimes collapsed, nonviable kernel with floury
endosperm and loose pericarp. Mottled or colored aleurone with anthocyanin genes
A1, C1, R1. Embryo small, degenerate, discolored and structurally incomplete,
developmentally blocked at Abbe and Stein (1954) stage 3 to 4. Cultured immature
embryos produce small, green, narrow leaf shoots and plantlets, often with
branched roots. Genetic 2005 9 coordinates determined from these recombination
and map data: TB-9Lc dek13; see MaizeGDB ID:105594. This gene was originally
