GRAMENE GENEGR:0200114
Type Gene
Species Zea mays subsp. mays (Maize) [ GR_tax:014546 ]
Germplasm
Description Collapsed endosperm; lethal; cultured embryos green, narrow-leaved, curled.
Collapsed endosperm; thin, collapsed, poorly viable kernel; endosperm almost
absent with tiny amount of floury starch. Embryo small and somewhat degenerate,
apparently affected by the defective condition of the endosperm. This is
supported by the fact that genetically normal hyperploid (m++) embryos with
hypoploid mutant (mm-) endosperms (from chromosome arm locating B-A chromosome
translocation cross) are also severely affected (Sheridan and Neuffer 1983).
Cultured immature embryos produce green, narrow, curled leaf seedlings. Genetic
2005 9 coordinates determined from these recombination and map data: dek12 TB-
9Sb; see MaizeGDB ID:105593. This gene was originally curated in MaizeGDB
Database and the map position was displayed on the maize bins map if feasible.
